About David Hobart

David Hobart has been coming to and riding around Vineyard roads for over 40 years, first as a ‘seasonal’ visitor, with a young and growing family, and now as a year-round resident. He has taught both high school and college chemistry, is a volunteer naturalist kayak guide for the Massachusetts Audubon Society and a docent-in-training at the MV Museum. Having ridden extensively on the island, he shares the most beautiful and scenic roads and the “less-traveled” backroads, shortcuts, and historic locations with the rider. He has helped many a lost cycling visitor find their way to their destination. It’s not a big island, but on a bike, it can be a long way between towns. Dave now lives on the island year-round with his wife and labradoodle, and enjoys cycling, pickleball, water sports, walking, gardening and cooking, traveling the world, and visits from his children, grandchildren and friends.
