My name is Perry Normal. Welcome to Ghosts, Myths, and Legends of Historic Provincetown - one of the oldest towns in North America. Indigenous people from the Nauset Tribe lived in the area before the colonists arrived. The town was named by English Explorer Bartholomew Gosnold who landed here in 1602. We start our ghostly journey in the West End where the Pilgrims first landed in 1620. On June 14, 1727, the area was incorporated into a town named Provincetown. Many of the homes in the town that you will see on this tour date back to the 1700s. This tour is a collection of the stories that shroud the town in mystery. The research for this tour came from resources readily available on the internet that I will share at the end of the tour. I encourage you to take the local ghost tours to get someone else’s perspective on these stories and to hear some that I may not have found in my research. Most of these properties are privately owned. Some of the owners may enjoy talking about their haunted properties, and others may not. Keep your ghost hunting activities to the sidewalks and public streets, and please be very respectful of the cemeteries and gravestones.
